I was hired as a special education teacher at the Minneota Public School in 1991. Before that I worked as a special education teacher in Marshall and also taught elementary education at St. Edward's in Minneota. |
{Mary Johnson, 3rd} |
I received my elementary degree from SMSU and special education degrees from St Cloud State and Mankato State. Since I am a graduate of Minneota Public School I feel my heart has been within this school system and I care about what happens to it today, and in the future.
Norm and I have lived most of our married life in Minneota. Norm works at ADM and we recently moved into a one level home. Together we enjoy fishing, lake life, and spending time with our children and grandchildren. Alone I like to travel, read, spend time with family and friends and going to auctions.
We have three children and five grandchildren. They do not live in the area so to keep up with them requires some traveling. Our three children all graduated from Minneota Public School. With five grandchildren we are busy keeping up with their sports and other school activities.
In third grade we work on Accelerated Reading, Everyday Math, the solar system, the continents, punctuation, and cursive. There are many other subject areas that are thrown in between all these areas as the opportunity arises.
The reason I am a teacher is that I enjoy working in the educational setting and most of all with students. I want to empower them to become the best they can be as well as teach them to make positive choices in life. Each day is a challenge for both teacher and student which makes each day interesting. It is rewarding to look back on the years of teaching and see how the students have grown into productive adults. As I visit with my past students most of them realize how important it is to get a good education which makes me want to try all the harder to educate each student to the best of their ability.
I do not feel that my work day ends with the sound of the last bell. Please feel free to contact me at school or at home.
