Minneota High School's art classes include:
Art I, Art II, and
Art III.
Art I emphasizes your skills in Basic Design, Sculpture, Drawing, and Painting. Basic Design is all about the "language and tools" of the art student.
Each student will learn about the elements and the principles that
are used in composing any art work. Methods of creative processing will
also be explored and used. The second half of the semester will be devoted
to sculpture. The principles of design will be applied in
three-dimensional construction of both artistic and functional projects.
In the 2nd
semester the student will be exposed to introductory problems and experiences
with a variety of drawing media. The class will be work with pencil,
charcoal, pastel and colored pencils, pen and ink, and felt markers. A variety
of drawing surfaces and subject matter will explored. An
emphasis will be placed on learning to see. In the Painting unit students
will use tempera, watercolor, and acrylic paint.
In
Art 2 you learn
Drawing, which includes an in depth study of drawing using different drawing
medias. An emphasis will be placed on positive and negative space. In the
painting part of this course, acrylic paint will be the main media used.
Students will paint on a variety of surfaces. They will create new works
of art from different styles of art. Students are required to have at
least five pieces of art in the Fine Arts Show.
Art 3 is an in-depth
study into drawing, painting, and 3D. Students will create new art by mixing
different mediums. Must have permission of instructor before signing up
for this class.
