Processing/Intro to Computers Data
processing skills will be emphasized in this course. The Microsoft Office
package will be used and students will study database, spreadsheet, charting,
graphics, internet, scanning, and presentation software. The skill level will
range from entry level to advanced for the students. This course will be for a
full year.

Desktop Publishing Today desktop
publishing is one of the fastest growing areas in the personal computer
industry. Learning desktop publishing is a great way to prepare for the
future. In this course, you will become familiar with using Adobe’s PageMaker
program. Use of this program will enable the student to produce high-quality,
printed documents that combine text and graphics. We will be producing a wide
range of publications such as: forms, catalogs, brochures, newsletters, and
flyers.

Web Design Web page design skills have
become a necessity in many careers today. Employees are asked to create,
maintain, or contribute to departmental web sites on company intranets. People
create personal web sites about their family or interests, as part of a career
search, or on almost any subject imaginable. Creating and maintaining
professional-looking web pages involves careful planning, organization, and
creativity, as well as technical skill. In this course, you will create webs
sites through the use of FrontPage. One main focus will be to keep the school
web site current.

Accounting I The learner will be introduced to
financial reporting through the use of accounting. Three accounting cycles are
studied: a sole proprietorship, a partnership, and a corporation. Detailed
projects will be completed at the end of each cycle. These projects are
designed to give the student on-the-job training and provide a capstone
experience for each accounting cycle.

Accounting II Accounting II is an advanced
accounting course which covers inventory, not-for-profit accounting, spreadsheet
accounting, and departmentalized accounting. Many of the problems will be done
on the computer in order to show the effects of automated accounting in today’s
world. Detailed projects will be done after each division.

Business Law This course is designed to last one
semester. A “real-life” approach to business and personal law will be taken.
Since we live in a society that has become more law-oriented and
litigation-prone, it is important for all citizens to be conscious of their
rights and responsibilities under the law. With that in mind this course will
cover the principles of law focused on business, personal, and consumer issues.
Students will study the concepts of contracts, sales agreements, consumerism,
business relationships, and personal agreements. This would be a semester
course.

Business Procedures This course will
prepare you for a career in today’s office. It will cover such topics as
telecommunications, information processing, communication skills, and
international business relations along with personal & career development.
Units covered will include business writing, filing, word processing, and
business presentations. This course is intended for anyone who desires a career
in today’s business world. Students will gain a real world understanding of the
importance and interrelationships of each person’s job in business by preparing
real-life documents for staff, administration, and others during this course.

Marketing Students will study basic concepts of
economics along with the basics or retailing. Various career opportunities will
be studied relative to retailing in both large and small store settings.
Included will also be management concepts relative to the operation of a retail
store including inventory control, operations, various selling techniques,
pricing, quality control, and leadership qualities.

In the personal business management
course, students will conduct an intensive examination of career choice
decisions, money management principles and practices, financial security and
planning for the future, and the management of credit responsibilities. This
course will explore the opportunities and possibilities that people encounter
when planning personal and financial decisions for the present and the future.
