National Honor Society

The Viking Chapter of the National Honor Society has
decided that its
objectives are to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to
render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of
character in students of Minneota High School. Membership in this chapter
is based upon scholarship, service, leadership and character. To be
eligible for membership, candidates must have a scholarship average of a B.
Their eligibility shall then be considered on their service, leadership and
character. Selection is by the NHS Faculty Council and is limited
to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. |
Special Events
Blood Drive
| |
Each year the
National Honor Society sponsors a Red Cross Blood Drive at the school.
This is a terrific service project because many students (over the age of
17) give blood. It is a proven statistic that once you start donating
blood, you are more likely to continue to do so. Therefore, it is not
only the NHS members, but all of the donors who are committing to this very
worthwhile event--hopefully, this will continue long past the one time
students get out of class. |
Martin Luther King Jr.
Day
| |
The NHS kids put on a
presentation for the student body on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It
consisted of various readings and a video of the famous "I Have a Dream"
speech. This took place at 8:15 instead of the usual TA's.
