I grew up on a farm near Wilmot, South Dakota.  After graduating from Wilmot High School, I attended SMSU in Marshall, Minnesota, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education.  In 1988, I was hired as a second grade teacher at Minneota Public Elementary, where I continue to teach second grade.  I obtained a master’s degree in education from St. Mary’s University of Minneapolis in the spring of 2004.  I also attend Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marshall.

My family consists of my Grandpa, (who is 90 years old and still young at heart), my Mom and Dad (who still farm near Wilmot, S.D.); my sister, Natalie Christians, who is a banker in Milbank, S.D., where she also farms with her husband, Keith, and daughters, Kellie and Cassidy; my sister Darcey, who lives in Chicago and works for a pharmaceutical company; my brother, Layne, who works for Harlan Financial Systems and lives in Fargo, ND with his wife, Beth, and their children, Jessica and Zachary.

I enjoy reading, traveling, shopping, decorating, sports, and surfing the Web.  In my free time, I like to spend time at my parents’ lake home on the South Dakota side of Big Stone Lake.  My future plans include working toward an administrative license.
