Mrs. Nicolle Johnston
I grew up in Marshall, Minnesota and graduated from Marshall High School in 1999. I attended college at Augustana University and graduated with my Specal Education degree in 2003. I went on to work with therapists as a behavioral aide for students with Autism. I have been teaching for 10 years. I received my master's degree in Special Education through Saint Mary's University of Minnesota this past December. I am currently back in school for my Administrative Leadership degree at Southwest Minnesota State University. I am married to Chad, who is also a teacher here at Minneota Public Schools. We have three sons: Easton (6th), Gage (4th) and Brooks (2nd). When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, fishing and spending time with my family.
I teach students in grades 7, 8 and 9 in the resource room as well as in their regular education classroom through team teaching. I team teach 8th grade Math with Mr. Panka. When students are with me during Study Skills, we work on organization, study techniques and IEP goals. When working on reading and writing, we use a variety of reading resources including short stories, plays, poems and relevant news articles. Technology is integrated throughout the lessons depending on the need of the learner and the usefulness of the technology. During math group, we work on state standards in addition to IEP goals.
