Degrees and Certifications:
My interest in the Spanish language began at a young age. Though I grew up in Cottonwood, MN, both of my parents had connections to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. My mom was my high school Spanish teacher, and both of my parents spent several years in Guatemala and El Salvador while working with the Peace Corps. In high school, I traveled to Costa Rica for a summer as an exchange student. While majoring in Spanish at the College of St. Catherine, I spent a semester living in Seville, Spain.
I graduated from college in 2005 and taught Spanish at Rosemount High School until 2007. After the birth of our daughter, my husband and I moved back to Minneota to be closer to family and I stayed home to raise our children for 10 years before returning to teaching in 2017.
I love teaching Spanish in Minneota, where I am able to split my time between teaching and caring for our 5 children at home.
I enjoy traveling, reading, dancing (swing and salsa are my favorites), playing games and spending time with family. Another passion of mine is theater, which was my minor at St. Kate's. I enjoy both acting and directing. In fact, I met my husband when we were in a play together at the Lake Benton Opera House so the theater has served me well!
