  • I was hired to teach social studies and language arts at Minneota Public School in 1992. In 27 years here, I have taught every course in the language arts curriculum and every course in the social studies curriculum except for Economics. The courses I will be teaching this year include World Geography 8, Civics 9, World Geography 10 and World History 12.

During my career at Minneota High School I was involved with Speech as both an assistant (1992-1998) and then later the head coach (1998-2004). I have been both the All-School Play Director (1996-2002) and Musical Director (1995-2006). I have also been the Junior Class Advisor (1996-1999) and the Senior Class Advisor (2000-2011). Finally, I was the Student Council Advisor from 2010-2013. In 2015, I returned to the position of Senior Class Advisor and will be continuing in that role this year.

Education has always been a part of my life. Both of my parents were teachers. My mother taught English and French before moving into a different field and my father taught science and math for 37 years. I grew up just north and west of the Twin Cities and graduated from Elk River Senior High in 1988. Minneota was my first position after graduating from Concordia College, Moorhead in May of 1992. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Social Studies Education and a minor in English Education. I worked for the next six summers to complete my Major in English Education, taking classes at Concordia College and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

I married my wife Sue in August of 2006 and in March of 2008, we were blessed with the birth of our twins.

While I have lived in both Cottonwood and Minneota during my tenure here. I currently make my home on a small hobby farm. Along with my wife and my children, I share the farm with a horse, a dog, two house cats and many barn cats.

I believe that all students should be exposed to a wide variety of experiences that extend well beyond the core curriculum. Students should take not only the required courses, but those that will make them well-rounded individuals. We offer many different and excellent courses as well as many extra-curricular activities at Minneota Public. Students should take advantage of all opportunities for growth and enlightenment.
