The CDC recommends a layered approach to preventing the spread of respiratory viruses. Core prevention strategies include staying up to date on immunizations, practicing good hygiene, improving indoor air quality, and staying home when sick.

If you are experiencing symptoms, the CDC advises staying home and away from others until your symptoms are improving and you have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication. Additional precautions may be recommended for five days after returning to normal activities.
